Using Software for Link Building - Ethical or Unethical?

Many does use software for link building. This include directory submissions, social marketing etc etc.

The intention of course to rank better and get more traffic eventually.

Many of us of course stick to the traditional manual method.

Which one is best approach, using software or manual, is a debated issue.

Do you think using software for link building is unethical

I think using software in link building is not unethical neither recommended for link building. I said it is still ethical since it is not doing any black hat methods. On the other hand, I didn't recommended it since I saw how effective manual link building compare to automated one.
