Can a developed .us, .tv, etc. with high search engine keyword rankings such as news, sports, movies, etc. do well in the search engines? For example movies dot us.

yes extensions don't matter as long as the site has good content and is optimized.

In my newbie experience, .net and .org are the alternative choice if .com not available. I used .net extension and the SEO result sometimes can beat .com
