Backlinks form forums the next target?

Hello
We all know that posting in forums is a free and easy way to get backilinks.
Now google have already penalised forums as far as PR goes, do you think that they may do the same with backlinks generated from signatures etc?

It wouldn't really surprise me if Google tried to do this. Google appears to be chipping away at methods of generating backlinks until left with pure organic linking, not that I think they achieve this.
