Someone told me: "With 4000+ backlinks you can rank for ANY keyword using a Blog..."

I saw many Blogs by myself as well with few thousand back links rank 1st page for "highly competitive" keywords (often using re-directs!) like: buy ******, ringtones, casino online, etc.

not only few backlinks depends on page rank. you also need a proper keyword.

It is not on the actual number of backlinks that determines how a blog/site will rank but on the number of quality backlinks. A site may appear having 100,000 backlinks but if you are to look on the strength on each backlink provides, you might be surprised that only few of them are actually pushing the site up.
