How can I delete unnecessary files or folders from my hard disk?

My harddisk space is 40 GB. I know it is very low for the present time. Now i want to delete some unnecessary files from my harddisk. Have any system for delete unnecessary files?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Fast go to start bottom then go to run, then
1. write 'temp' then delete all file
2. write '%temp%' then delete all file
3. write 'prefetch' then delete all file
4. write 'cleanmgr' then delete all file
